Hi, I'm a laptop newbie so please bear with me!

I've noticed that Acer laptops tend to be,shall I say,at the lower end of the price range.
Usual suspicion is "quality reflected in price".
I would only want one for general PC work,i.e. not interested in music downloads, games & things of that ilk.
Any views on Aspire AS9301WS say?

By the way, what's the difference between a "Laptop" & a "Notebook"? ( You can see I really meant it when I said "newbie"!

Thanks

Your standard Acer (not the Ferrari range) tend to be rather good features and spec wise through each pricepoint (£400, £500 etc), but the lower end models do tend to have build quality issues in my opinion: Flexible screen backs and keyboards; very annoying!

They're also all pretty much generic to look at, rather uninspiring to be frank. Not important to me but a lot of people would disagree.

There's no difference between a 'notebook' and 'laptop'. It's simply terminology to describe the same thing.

Thanks.
I've just noticed that the one I mentioned doesn't claim to be "2Core"

Any general comments on that-not necessarily just Acer?

Core 2 Duo is describing the processor or brain inside the laptop.

Intel make the Core 2 Duo and they are currently the best processor you can buy, they come in various speeds measured in GHz.

Intel's Core Duo is not to be confused with Core 2 Duo, the 2 means it's a later, more advanced processor and the one to get if you want dual core.

Hi
I have a Acer laptop. In fact the cheapest one they do, an Acer TravelMate 2410. I got it for 270 UK pounds, it's ok. I have upgraded the RAM to 2Gb and it runs pretty well.

I have had it for about 6months now nad there seem to be no problems, but like someone said, the build quality is pretty miserable.
