Turions are rather good to be honest, probably in line with Intel's original Core Duo's.

They also only use (speed dependent) around 22w to run, so very battery friendly. That's not saying the rest of the components are though! If it is a 7600 it'll like the juice. I'd expect battery life in the region of 1.5 hours on a 17" HP lappy, maybe an hour when gaming.

Not to concerned about battery life, so does the price seem alright?

Either cpu (core or Turion) WITH the 7600, yeah, I would.

But I'd check with the seller as they're quoting both cpu's on the ad, and a different gpu to what HP quote.

I wouldn't.

yes, its cheap for a Sony but the majority of Sony stuff is overpriced anyway, you're paying for the brand.

Its a Core Duo, not a core 2 duo, meaning it's basically two pentium M's glued together. It's not a true optimised dual-core cpu.

The 8400GT is crap. 'Nuff said.

Keep looking would be my opinion.
