Default Biggest waste of money ever!!

Well, this is just another of my stupid projects. BAsically I bought a Compaq Armada 7700 something laptop from a bankrupt stock shop (always had trouble saying that) for a rather pricey £50. Pricey? Well, you had to hold the power switch for exactly 14 seconds then release it before waiting a further 20 seconds for it do decide whether or not it was going to switch on. It has no optical drives, no USB, the screen hinges are broken, it has Windows 95, it uses damn annoying full height drive bays that you need an adaptor to fit regular size drives in etc. Needless to say it recently broke, so I've ordered a new intenal power supply unit off ebay from the US of A for the fairly average price of around £15. All the other sellers wanted that and more just for the postage. And I've also bought an external parallel port CD drive off an acquaintance for the rather more sensible sum of £2.50, although he says it doesn't work I'm convinced that all it needs is drivers. I was thinking of getting a PCMCIA USB card, but w95 doesn't fully support USB. Anyhow, I've got a different Windows 95 cd that has full USB drvers on it, so here's to hoping that works eh???
Oh yea almost forgot might post a couple pics once its all done. Its mental.

I get the subtle impression that you're a tad miffed Jimmy....

Bottomless pit springs to mind.

Bottomless pit, bottomless indeed. Where to stop? And what's it all for? Miffed would be the word, yes.

Well I tried it out but I didnt know there was anything seriously wrong with it because it loaded up eventually, and it that was okay by me. Yeah the shops closed down now (well it was all junk anyway but I kind of liked it) so I'm half thinking it serves him right for selling me a knackered laptop but also that it was a great shop that sold some cheap stuff so thats bad.. Anyway at the end of the day if i knew where his windows were I'd certainly smash them for him. The great thing now though, is that it does boot up and works great! Apart from the CD drive which I bought for £2.50 which isnt the right size or shape. :(
