Default BIOS Password Reset

Hi

I'm new to this forum but i notice you offered to help to ODi back in Aug with his Ergo Mercury laptop. Well, believe it or not I have the exact same problem.
I've tried the Esc key suggestion but that was unsuccessful. I've also tried all the listed backdoor passwords that are available on the web, but again to no avail.

The problem is that many of the techy people who set up the passwords up never used the same generic password and they have now moved on or left the firm. So, I'm wondering if you could point me in the right direction as I seem to have come to a dead end.

The brick, sorry laptop, concerned is an Ergo Mercury Model number 700A. I desperately need it to boot from a CD in order to try and repair the OS or at least allow me the chance to retrieve my data from the hard drive.

Would be grateful if you could help.

Default BIOS Password Reset

Apart from knowing the password you would need to dismantle the laptop and remove any watch like battery's.

However if the laptop uses a eeprom to remember the passwords then you will need to reprogram it, which 99% of the time can only be done by the manufacturer and proof of purchase will be needed.

As far as im aware this model does not use eeprom so try what Dave said in pulling out the batteries. Goodluck.
