I know there are websites that allow you to build your own laptop online by selecting each of the parts, etc...but what I cannot find is one of these sites that will allow you to purchase the laptop without an Operating System. I already have a perfectly good boot disk at home and don't feel like spending the extra money. Also, if someone has any advice on what to buy concerning a gaming laptop, please mention it. I want a top of the line machine, and money isn't really an issue (within reason of course).

A perfectly good boot disk? Is that another name for Windows Vista?

I haven't broken the ice with Vista yet, so my disk is a modded version of XP SP3.

You should be running vista on any current hardware. I would buy it or get a built laptop with it thrown in. By modded version I guess you mean downloaded, which doesn't rub well here.

I don't mean to put down Vista, I just prefer my version of XP SP3. And by modded, I don't mean pirated. I modified my legit copy to basically take out anything that I don't want since Microsoft is notorious for putting tons of useless crap in their software. Anyways, we're getting off topic...if you know of a site that lets me build a Laptop without buying an OS please let me know.

Ah, ok, fair enough, have to ask. I think most builders will sell without an os for a price drop, try actually asking, dont see why they would refuse.

I've been building with HP's online thing on their main site, so I'll send their customer service people an email and see what I can work up.

Yeah, it's worth a try. I'm pretty sure they will try to do something. Maybe some free RAM instead or something if not a price drop.
