Default Buying a new laptop

So i have $1,000 to spend on a new laptop. I can decide if i want to get a dell laptop or go for a Mac. I currently have dell desktop and i will be using the new computer for school, internet, and possibly some games. Ive never owned a Mac but i know they are getting increasingly popular. Let me know what you think i should do! Thanks for the advice in advance!

go for the type that is most used around you to ensure maxium compatibility when transfering your documents etc.

dell laptops (windows os) have a greater range of software available for them and fit in more as they are more widely used.
