| Hi all, I am new to this forum so excuse me if i get anything wrong. ![]() I have just purchased a second hand Toshiba L350D 12M from a well know auction site. The problem is that i do not know the start up password and i am having no luck contacting the seller ![]() What i want to know is, is there a way to bypass this password? As you power up, Toshiba comes up then is switches to a black screen with a blue box asking for the current password. I have tried various 'backdoor' passwords etc with no luck. Can anybody help me as i fear i may have wasted my money |

| As far as I know the only way here is to open the thing, pull the CMOS battery or switch the jumper and that should reset it. Pain in the butt but beats having a useless laptop.

| I have tried taking the cmos battery out this morning. Left it for about ten minutes but it did not solve the problem I think i will try leaving it for 24hours unless anyone thinks that is a waste of time. As for the jumper, i can not see one anywhere on the board. |

| Yeah, give the 24hr thing a shot. Make sure to unplug and remove (regular) battery as well, for obvious reasons. Unless it has some magical air-to-current device that should fix the password issue.

| These are not normally simple CMOS battery removal passwords.

These are eeprom passwords (no backup power needed), and normally the manufacturer has to reset them, but will need proof of purchase. My System: Hybr!d

| Some (but not all) Toshiba Laptops will bypass the bios password, if the Left Shift key is held down whilst booting.

| Thanks for the help guys. Tried leaving the bios battery disconnected for 24hrs but still no joy. Also tried the left shift key, but again, no joy. I have a distinct feeling i have been ripped off and can't afford to buy another one now. |
