...while plugged to AC? I want to preserve my laptop battery while I normally have it plugged to the AC. Instead of taking out the battery from my laptop, is there anything in the device manager to disable so my battery isn't charging while plugged to the AC? It seems Microsoft should invent something to give you the option to charge or not while using the AC.

All you can do is to take the battery out, but if the power goes, you'll lose what you are working on & system crashes...

when your laptop is plugged into the AC your battery only charges and your laptop is powered by the AC once your battery is fully carge the mains adapter doesnt bother it just keeps powering your laptop, you will only start to use your battery when you unplug the AC.

still on about the battery.repeat after me: having the battery plugged in will not reduce its lifespan.
