Hello again, I just recently bought a Dell Inspiron Laptop, but I have a couple questions about charging.

1: Is it ok to leave my laptop always plugged into the wall? Will it shorten the battery life?

2: If the first question is ok, then if I leave it plugged in but yet shut my PC off, and start it back up, will it take a new charge?

Thanks so much for your time, it's greatly appreciated.

I don't have a laptop, but the answer to 1. should be no, it's not okay. My sister keeps hers plugged in all the time, and she says the battery life is only 10 minutes now. I've also had friends who have theirs plugged in, and the battery life is shortened. For question 2, I don't think it should be plugged in if its on full charge. If it needs charging, keep it in, if not, it should be unplugged.

Plugging the laptop into the wall a lot should have no ill effects. If the battery is charged fully, the laptop will simply use AC power directly. The real danger for battery life is running a battery down - most of the batteries used in laptops can have real problems if constantly wore down to 0%.

I'm not sure what you mean by #2.

Just talked to someone from Dell.com, and he said exactly what Carbon did. Thanks!
