I have a dell laptop and when i try to install windows xp, the whole computer shuts off?
Earlier it said the HD couldnt be found so i replaced it with a new one. What could be some possible problems? |

Could be overheating, clean the fans, they are probably clogged up with dust.

umm i dont have the laptop with me but i believe its a 2500 and it shuts off at the second stage when it starts the installation setup.

Sometimes the "HD couldnt be found" message will appear, if the machine has a SATA drive, in which case it needs the appropriate SATA drivers, in order to see it, when installing XP
