Just replaced my desktop with this new laptop. I'm not using it for games anyway and fancy the portability of the laptop, Can believe the spec for the money, nothing else touches it, it's a great machine. http://www.ebuyer.com/product/140800

Nice spec Dave ..... I grabbed this Fujitsu a month ago for £399 and it's amazingly fast.

I'm not a gamer either and it gives my desktop a run for its money. So .... how long did it take before you to reinstalled it and got rid of all the bloat, like Norton ?

That's pretty good too phil.
I was desperate to get a 17" screen and design wise it's like an iPhone. Took me a good few hours to get rid of it all, Norton, HP help centre bla bla hhe he. All nice and clean now. :) |

Yep the HPs are nicely made and look pretty, the build quality seems very high too.
We have 3 Fujitsus in the house, one has been abused by my son through Uni and is still going strong, so I stayed with the name. First thing I did when I got it powered up, was to delete all the partitions and put Vista Ultimate x86 on it. I thought it might slow down, with Ultimate on it, but it's surprisingl fast still .... I put SP1 on a week or 2 back and that definitely speeded up the file copying issues. When I compare it to my old Acer Aspire 1682, it really leaves it out in the cold. |

Good move, Dave.
My desktop PC is upstairs collecting dust now. My laptop is A4 sized and I keep any important files backed up on a 500Gb file server upstairs, which is run from a wonderful little box running Linux. Brilliant bit of hardware, a fully fledged computer the size of a usb hub. http://www.linksys.com/servlet/Satel...=1931258184B16 http://www.nslu2-linux.org/wiki/Main/HomePage

Well, you can open it and take it to pieces at least!
![]() Upgrading is limited to RAM, HDD and a better onboard WiFi card. The first two are generally enough for me but I am not averse to upgrading the odd motherboard. I wonder how many laptops allow you to upgrade the processor? (At a hypothetical later date when prices have decreased.)
