I'm on my 2nd laptop but if I have to replace this, I would be seriously considering a desktop PC. My reason is that laptop aren't easy to upgrade, well at least not for the non hardcore computer techies.

also computer accessories are supposedly cheaper for desktop than laptop and most importantly desktop aren't bulky these days so they can sit in the living room discretely. and overall they're cheaper.

does anybody agree with me that you don't need to have a laptop if you only intend to use it at home.

A desktop is easily upgradeable and you will get a much spec for your money than a laptop.

A laptop is portable but is not upgradeable and they are a lot less reliable.

Yep ... if you dont need the portability .... a desktop is a much better bet.
Definitely more bang for the buck and much easier to repair/upgrade yourself.

Laptops are genuinely less space, even if you get a Shuttle instead of a PC. It depends on how much importance you place on "most importantly desktop aren't bulky these days so they can sit in the living room discretely".

Yes desktops can upgrade but an upgrade has invariably cost more than a replacement PC. That's a consequence of bulk buying and ever-falling prices.

A desktop will tend to be noisier, if you'll excuse a generalization which obviously has exceptions.
