Can someone explain me what kind of effect a dead battery can have on a laptop.

Is just that I have an aspire 3610 and its not booting, and a friend of mine said that was because of the battery. can it be?

Please hope someone can help me with this...

Thank you

If you plug into the mains, you bypass any battery. So that would rule it in/out.

If it's a laptop, you're basically screwed anyway.

If you've done all that and it's still not working - it's definatly not worth the hassle.

Salvage what data you can, see what you can get under warranty and if not a new one, you may as well buy a new one.

Really? You have changed most stuff, sounds like throwing good money after a lot of bad to me.

Laptops are notorious for having a short shelf live, buy cheap, use, bin or sell then replace.

Very few repair them, they are very difficult/problematic and uneconomical also even if you get it running it could go pop next week and you have no warranty.

How long have you had it?

And why did you start repairing it yourself, was it out of warranty?

Because manufacturers generally warranty it for 1 year for a reason, they know it will only last one or two more than that...

Thank you for the comments people.

I've had this laptop for 2 years or so .And lucky me that it wasn't mine. my little girl broke the power
jac and lucky me wasn;t just the power jac but also the motherboard where the power jac connects. So I payed to change the motherboard. then I give it back to my friend, Just after to weeks the laptop started having problems to boot and a lot of blue screen errors. So I went back with it, so they said that they just needed to change RAm, but one week after the same problem. had to go back to the experts but they wonted me to pay for looking at it.....so I said yous 3 are bunch of ^&$%£*&*(^rsrsrsrsssrsrs. So I had to buy a new one for my friend and I keeped this one .

So that is Y I like to see it running. But if no repair I will sell it as spairs and repairs.

Thank you guys
any more comments very wellcome

I really wouldn't bother with it.

Save some money by selling what components you can (the ones you know for sure work, ie. the ones you bought)

But don't spend any more on it.
