Default F5

Should the F5 key on a laptop turn off the screen when you add an external monitor?

Depends on the laptop. Usually there's an icon.

Sorry Guys I didn't word the question clearly. The key is F5.What I want to know is should it disable the laptop display while changing to an external monitor?. This one doesn't and, with a badly cracked screen, it is a terrible distraction.
