My Acer laptop received a bit of a bump and now the screen has all these flickering lines over it. Sometimes the background can be made out, sometimes not, but it's still impossible to use the screen. The computer functions normally and what ever is on the screen is perfect when it's connected to a desk-top monitor. Can anything be done to fix it or do I have to get a new one. A new screen only is not cost effective. Thanks!

Definiely sounds like the screen is damaged ...... depending on age of the machine, it's probably not worth repairing.

Nothing as far as I know .... Samsung are normally more reliable than Acer, Dell, Hp etc.

The only point I would make is this is an old spec by today's standards. It's a dual Core CPU not a Core2 Duo, only 2gb Ram and smallish HDD.
If you only use it for surfing and email & Office apps, it should be fine, but if you are likely to push it more, you might want to spend a little more

The T3100 is a Merom architecture chip shrunk to 45nm, essentially a Core 2 Duo with a different name. It does have half the L2 cache of a Merom chip branded as a C2D, but the difference is minor.

Nah, should perform pretty much on even with a regular Core 2. I'd be more concerned with the HDD's performance for multitasking purposes, but it's a solid system in any case and the 45nm shrink should help battery life.
