Default Format laptop hdd

hi can anyone tell me if you can completly format one hard drive on one laptop from another laptop, the laptop i want to format uses windows vista, the other uses windows xp.

reason for doing this i want completly format hdd and do fresh install, as the system at the moment doesn't have the restore feature because it has become currupt.

any help would be grateful

You can back up your data and transfer it.

Other than that you need a Windows CD to install any Operating System.

reason the one with vista has no restore feature, since the laptop has become corrupted with something
