hi, i saw this thing where you get a free £250 laptop in pc world if you go with a 24 month contract with mobile broadband, i tried this but i failed the credit check (due to financial problems). do anyone know a way to get the free laptop and contract without having to go through the credit check?

It's the only way, it is like a mobile phone deal/contract, because you are signing a long subscription contract you get the phone or laptop in this case free.

All phones on contract require a credit check pass. That's why you must be 18 or over in the UK.

Yeah, they don't do the credit check per se, the network you choose will however when the reseller passes your details to them, ie; Vodafone, Orange etc.

I used to work for a mobile reseller.

Also watch any cashback schemes the resellers do, they will make you jump through hoops when you try to claim line rental back 6 months or so down the line.

Go direct to the network if you can, the resellers cannot under cut the networks as they just resell for them, so they offer free stuff and cashback to compete, but then let you down when you have signed up on the dotted line.

So if you can get the same deal network direct there is no point going through a reseller, the networks also look after you much better and have better customer service, if you go through a reseller the network will tell you to call them in the event of a problem.

mobiles.co.uk is owned by The Carphone Warehouse.

The free laptop deals are kosha, you get the laptop in place of a phone you would normally get free on a contract anyway, nothing different, you are buying phone line rental regardless of what is given to you to access it.

Whichever way you are still signing a contract and will need to pass a credit check.

It's the cash back deals which work different, the resellers undercut the networks line rental fee's and then tell you to send in all your bills after 12 moths time to get the difference in a rebate. There are countless stories in the news on watchdog etc. where many get nothing back and end up paying the same as if they went direct to the network in the first place.
