A nitpick about the concept:

- Gaming
- Laptop

Pick one. Laptops are designed for portability, longevity, and accessibility, and 45-minute-battery hot and noisy 12 pound death machines are not laptops, they are poorly designed micro-ATX systems with a LCD screen. You will pay easily a 200% price premium for even the lowest of tier "gaming laptops" as compared to a desktop, and it only goes up from there.

That aside, and talking about the specific model, the Acer 7730 isn't a bad machine for occasional gaming, if you got the 9600M variant as opposed to the 9300M, and certainly doesn't have terrible battery life. However, if you do any traveling or are away from an outlet even once in a while, and don't need a crazy resolution (the 7730 is only WXGA, which means it's 1440x900, so I assume you don't), seriously look at the netbook market. You will get better battery life (up to double), equal performance for most tasks, and pay nearly half the price in many cases.

Yeah I agree with Carbon
I bought a laptop for gaming on the move but TBH an Eeepc would have been better
Its just too big, carrying something around with a 17" screen just defeats the purpose of the thing"portability"
Fair enough I can game on it, but that is at home, cant exactly take it out on a train without it getting pushed or bumped

Its not going to be used while traveling about and I only play stratergy games like civ 4, so its not heavy on the fast graphics side. I use a laptop for convience really as I dont have the room for a desktop PC in my lounge
