Default help,don't understand different cd/dvd drives

hi i am buying a new laptop but don't understand the different cd/dvd drives there are, i have seen dual layer, superdrive,optical etc .i want the best one and able to burn cd and dvd's.

Default help,don't understand different cd/dvd drives

Any DVD+-RW will do the job, mine is dual layer but I will probably never use it
