i bought a acer one netbook in linux. but it does not have a dvd playing thingy so how do watch a dvd in. Please help.

i have had a look at the site and it dosent say if it has a dvd drive so if it dose download limp and try that boot cd

works for me on my laptop

You're going to need some form of multimedia player, to run the DVD, assuming you have the physical drive.

Netbooks don't have DVD drives but you can get external USB drives and enclosures cheaply.

There are many Linux multimedia programs. You will need to install the dvdcss module probably to decrypt the DVDs.

what flavor of LINUX ,you hav to go to their site and get a list of hardware drive they have since most dvds do not have Linux format ,download player from their site ,You can also download a softwar called CrossOver ,you can play any popular format in Linux no matter Window media player or Quick time ,,download vlc for liux it will open any media format:

You don't. It does not come with an optical drive.

You COULD buy an external DVD-Rom and plug it in to the USB port. I'm not sure what kind of configuration that would take to get the operating system to recognize it, install the correct drivers, etc. and you would have to plug it in to a wall outlet for power.

You could use another computer to rip a dvd and convert it to video file such as .mpg or .avi, and then put that file on a flash drive and watch it with the Media Player.

Some services allow you to download movie files, or watch them on their website (NetFlix).

Those are your only 3 options I can think of.
