Hi everyone.Iam having problems with my hp mx6110 lap top.The USB port does not work unless i fiddle with the hardware(flash disk)connection for a while then it works for while. Is it possible to replace the port with a new one?
your help will be highly appreciated.

Are you sure it's the port, not the flash disk?

Either way to change the port will require you to totally dismantle the laptop and solder a new one on.

It's a specialist job.

if other USB devices require a 'wiggle' to make them come up, its a hardware problem with the USB plug itself. formating your laptop will do no good, the problem is not with the windows etc, its the physical connection. as dave said, its a specialist job to strip down ur laptop and solder a new plug on, not one tht u should undertake yourself!!! unless you wanna take it to a specialist computer shop, or its still under warrenty, ur best off getting a USB hub if your short of USB plugs, u can pick them up for practially nothing nowdays.

Cauld also be drivers, delete the USB ports in device manager and reboot and let them re-install.

Is it just the one port that doesnt work? If you have more than one [and I'm sure you do] then try those?
