My laptop is an 8 month old Asus FSV3. It was fine last week, but in the last few days the battery has not been charging and says 0% constantly. I initally thought maybe it would be something I updated I've not added any new hardware recently just a couple of software downloads. Therefore I tried using system restore, but this does not work, it restarted the laptop and said Windows Restore was unsuccessful....

Also a couple of times recently, when I have started the laptop it has come up with black screen saying Windows failed to start and with the two options Start Windows Normally or Repair something or other. Would this be linked into it?

It says on the laptop the warranty is for 24 months, so would you recommend I just get a new battery? My parents bought it online for me and have kept the receipt. So would I just need to call them and ask for a new battery or what? Sorry just never sent back/had problems with stuff I've bought online before.

I don't have regular net access, so I won't be online again until monday, but any thoughts would be great.

Much appreciated,

HG

turn on the computer plugged into the mains and then take the mains connection out

if the laptop goes off the battery its screwed

do you run it on the battery often? i never did, i only use mains and that itself kills the battery

get into contact with the seller if its in warranty they should repair etc

Thanks for the reply. However it no longer seems a problem I was using on Saturday night after work and it seemed fine and has been since. As it now says the battery is fully charged, so I'm not entirely sure what was going on. Maybe just being a pain in the neck for a while, as laptops/PCs can be.

I don't often run it off the battery occasionally, but 99% of the time I have it plugged into the mains.
