I have Dell 1520 with a Intel Celeron M 540 @ 1.86 GHZ, for some reason it overheating like mad when i'm on games. It reached to 75 degrees before, is that safe for a laptop? The Tj is 100 degrees, So i guess its safe to be under 100 degrees? the fan doesn't automaticly turn on at 75 degrees ? i have to use fan control to make it turn on. Please can you help me ?
Btw my laptop is on windows xp (it came with vista and i guess it was made for vista but it runs really slow on vista)

On the bottom of the laptop should be a removable panel.

Underneath will be a fan and heatsink, it's probably clogged up with dirt and dust.

Sounds like there are some blocked vents on the laptop to me. Make sure there is noo dust and dirt blocking anything and as Dave says, have a look at the CPU heat sink.

Also, if you can get into the BIOS, check the auto fan speed settings, check it's not disabled.

I don't believe the dell laptops to have Autofan settings - could be wrong, but on the few we have at home they don't - although they are quite old.

I think the new ones do, or at least they have a temperature where they are meant to turn on.
