So, as soon as i put the HDMI cable attached to the monitor (Acer P243W 1920x1200) into my laptop, i get a blue screen for a few seconds saying it has to restart, which it does. The monitor works with a VGA cable, but I want to use the HDMI. Any ideas how to solve this? My laptop is hp pavillion dv6000, and uses nvidia 8400m gs graphics card. The HP people were useless to be honest, so thanks if you can help

Could be a driver issue, have you tried updating all graphics drivers?

For reference, i called HP support i have a dv6000 also with the exact same problem.
I tried hdmi connection with a linux live distribution and it worked without problem so there has to be a software error. Go to http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/ on the right is improved drivers for Nvidia graphics cards ( especially for vista 32-bit ) Strangely i couldn't install the setup but the pdsetup.exe seems to work. |

ooops i was almost right
or the support technician was almost rightTrue visit : http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/forum/...howtopic=16152 Then download driver unpack download modded inf copy to driver folder just unpacked, overwrite run setup.exe, press yes to all questions This should resolve the HDMI driver error for at least my, HP dv6827eo vista 32-bit laptop Only slight problem now is that my samsung won't automatically stretch the screen full but i think i can resolve that somehow... Good luck

Had a similar problem on my HP DV9720. Kept getting lines across the screen in Windows. laptopvideo2go driver sorted it too. Seems everyone with one of these should upgrade the drivers.

ok PART 3 in this diskussion.
The fix from HP is really terrible!!! I cannot get full screen and the image handling is severly crippled so basically it's useless. However i plugged in through VGA and get perfect picture although i only get 1600-1024 resolution and not full HD. But why would i want that? On my 40 inch screen Full HD becomes micropoint text and really not useful. If i want to see FUll HD movies through my computer right now i can always boot through USB - Linux and HDMI. I hope they fix this driver issue at HP anyway. Best luck

Sorry to bring up an old thread. However, this is the closest resemblence to my problem and hopeful solution. Your assistance is greatly appreciated!
I just purchased a 23" monitor and HDMI cable to use with my HP DV6369SE laptop. However, when plugging in the HDMI cable it immediately blue screens, dumps physical memory, and restarts. (VGA connection works but I am not content with its performance) I have checked the transient multi-monitor settings to make sure its enabled, confirmed the latest drivers, confirmed that the HDMI cable works, and worked with the Nvidia control panel but nothing has permanately cured the issue. The driver posted above by colourstorm http://forums.laptopvideo2go.com/top...nvidia-crysis/ sounds like it is the fix I need but the instructions are above my head. If this is what I need, can someone help a newbie out with better instillation instructions? Suggestions?... |
