Ok My Laptop Hardrive just broke,when i boot up pc i can hear some scrathing clicking noise and pc freezee . but im sure its the hardrive
since i can still get to the bios whith out any problems, ok so what i wanna do is buy new hardrive and xp pro will that be ok ? or what can i do

If you can hear it's broken then yes, you will need to replace it and install Windows.

100 percent sure since i took it out and tried it in my desktop as a slave harddrive.
anyways so can i actually buy new harddrive and put new os? . i was just wondering since i wasnt sure if u could do that on a laptop. :)

ill have a little hunt around i have a few notebook hard drives (sata) that aren't being used but there only 100 gig
i cant promise though as my brother may be wanting them

Yes, have a look here, you want a 2.5 inch laptop hard drive in any size you choose. http://www.newegg.com/

Obviously you will need a Windows install CD too.

We can help you install it if you need that.

If you are buying an XP CD, find someone selling the OEM version as it is cheaper. If you have the XP sticker on your laptop, you can just borrow a CD and use that (or duplicate it using nLite) as you are already licensed.

What laptop is it? We can find out how you remove the drive. (Often it is under the laptop and you just remove a screw and pull it out.)
