Default Laptop Monitor Power Saving query

Hello all. I would like to ask if it is possible for me to save some energy at all. I am a regular listener of internet radio which is international.

What I normally do is listen to the radion on the laptop and connect my wirless speaker and listen it around the house which is fantastic.

The problem I have that I would like to switch the laptop monitor ONLY off so to save some energy. If I am not on the net via POWER OPTIONS I have set to one minute for the monitor to go off it does do. But if I go on the net and listen live radio it still stays switched on.

I have messed about with all the power option and have stated each setting to switch off within a minute but it doesn't

Please help and thank you

Tony

Try simply closing the lid - quite a lot of Laptops shut off the screen if you close it, and then turn it back on when you open it again.

Go into power settings in control panel, my laptop will let me turn just the screen off after x minutes and leave the rest going.

Hi Friend thank you for the quick reply. I have also tried that but no luck. Surprisingly when I am not on the net i.e If i put a cd in the computer screen automatically goes off within 1 minute, but it is a problem when I am on the net.

My computer at work is exactly the same and I have put these settings on exacly at home. My work one does it but not at home.

You think there is something wrong somewhere? Thanks abs

Hmm.. it does certainly sound dodgy if it's different form you're one at work..

They the same OS and SP??

If they are I reckon its a registry mishap - other than running an automatic registry cleaner I can't be of much help there, try a bit of freeware and if it still doesn't work ask someone else which file it'll be..
