Hey All-

I'm having an extremely annoying problem with my laptop (Compaq 6910). The laptop has two internal mice (a touchpad and that little nub in the middle of the keyboard that I don't know the technical term for). Each of these has a corresponding pair of mouse buttons. One of the two left buttons is constantly acting as if it's being pressed down, and every time I roll the cursor over an icon it opens that icon or runs that program, which, needless to say, renders the computer pretty much unusable. None of the buttons are physically stuck down, and it just started acting this way after I had left the comuter in hibernate for a few hours and came back to it. I've figured out how to disable the internal mice and have connected an external mouse, so I'm able to use the computer that way, but I'd really like to get it fixed. Can anyone think of anything that might help? Or does it sound like an internal circuit short or something? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

it sounds like there is some dirt stuck under the buttons, pry each one open with a screw driver and blow the dirt out.

Thanks for the replies. Unfortunately, dirt doesn't seem to be the problem. I pried off both buttons and blew onto the sensor below, but to no avail; the button is still acting up. Any other ideas? Or is there another, more effective way to clean under the button than blowing air that I should try?

Thanks!
