| Personally, I wouldn't replace a Desktop PC with a Laptop, but having a Laptop as a 2nd machine is fine.

I know Laptop specs are now really good and prices have fallen, but if you leave a Laptop on all day and all night, it is much more likely to overheat than a Desktop and it's working life will be shorter. The spares are usually more expensive too. Also the components in a Laptop are often not as robust ....i.e. DVD-RW Drives, batteries & charging circuits seem to fail quite often and unless you know what you are doing, repairing a Laptop can be a specialist/costly job. Plus Laptops are not easy to upgrade. That's my opinion .... but see what others say My System: Home Build
