Default Laptop performance

At the moment im getting around the 180FPS mark ingame on call of duty 2.. but i want to increace this without comprimising on the graphics

here is the current system spec:

Processor:
INTEL® Core 2 Duo T7250 (2 X 2.00GHz) 800MHz FSB/2MB L2 Cache

RAM:
2GB CORSAIR DDR2 667MHz - LIFETIME WARRANTY! (2x1GB)

Hard Disk:
80GB SERIAL ATA II HARD DRIVE WITH 8MB CACHE (5400rpm)

Graphics Card:
512MB GEFORCE 8600GT + D-SUB + TV-OUT

Sound Card:
Realtek ALC268 2 Channel High Definition Audio + SPIDIF OUT

obviously im not expecting super high performance on a laptop but id like to get the most of the system that i can. would it be stupid to overclock it? it doesnt run paticularily hot now (23C) but if i overclocked it would it be able to cope being run 24/7 and not getting too hot? or is overclocking laptops out of the question anyway.. any help appreciated

First, if you are getting 180 FPS that is more then enough. Anything over 60-80 is really unnecessary (unless you are quoting max not average).

Second, overclocking a laptop really doesn't work. (mostly because of cooling issues)

Third, if you want more performance make sure you don't have any background programs running. (like IE, Firefox, messenger, Notron, etc.)

Fourth, run programs like ccleaner.

Fifth, do a clean install of XP.

Hope this helps.

This post is like saying "hello, my car goes 260mph, how can I make it go 300?" 180fps is well over what the eye can see and well over what is needed. Turn on V-Sync. 60fps is enough.
