sorry guys
been working long hours lately
sorry wolfeymole havent got xp discs laptop come preloaded as usual nowdays
anyway i was using avg antivirus and i noticed my laptop was freezing up when it was trying to update
so i went into safe mode and dumped avg along with a sh*t load of other progs i wasn't using and now its starting up fine
now i cant get IE to load any pages my connection icon says im connected to internet
but IE is showing cannot display web page diagnose connection
but when i put cursor over diagnose c...p... the following shows at bottom of page
res://ieframe.dll/dnserror/.htm

anyone any sugestion as to what to do
before i throw this thing out the bloody window

From what I can gather Laser this looks like an IE7 issue, have a look at what these guys have to say and try that.
Other than that you could try reinstalling IE7 or try Firefox.

started my laptop short while ago and lo and behold IE starts as normal
cant understand it but will keep fingers crossed many thanks for your time and help Wolfey and others
