Default Laptop and second monitor (again)

I have and Acer laptop, I have a lcd monitor as well and I would like to use it. Would it be safe it put it on top of laptop with it closed? Would it be bad for airflow or something? I have no where else I can put it. Sorry if this is obvious.

Hi Felicia

Forgive me if I'm being really stupid but how would you operate the laptop with the lid closed?

Don't be embarrassed Felicia.

Dependant on your settings it will more than likely go into Standby.

I'm pre-supposing you are using the monitor as an external screen with regard to what is showing on the laptop yes?

Unless you live in a shoe box you surely must have room at the side of the laptop or on a small coffee table perhaps.

Bit bigger than a shoes box but things are against me, ie stupid shape computer desk with arch over the top so not like normal table, also 2 year old, no good for coffee table! Thanks though for your patience, will think of different plan.

Here's one ok.

Get a plastic tray like you see in a self service cafe and put the laptop on that, it's better than your lap and the airflow will not be restricted.

Then put the monitor where the laptop was.
