Ok so if the screensaver is on the external and there is nothing on the laptop you are in business.
Try moving the mouse or doing some operations on the laptop and see if now only the external monitor shows the result.

When I press that button, Iget the cursor on monitor, but still nothing else no desktop icons, windows, nothing, when the button is not pressed (like now) I still see the screensaver on monitor) Its only if i move the windows off the laptop page do they move onto the monitor?

:DOOHH!! I've done it! in the tray there was something to do with the drive for laptop monitor it said output to, so I did monitor and desktop, only thing is (it not a problem as I can change back if I want to) that the laptop screen looks a bit steched and blurry, thank for all help!! (hope I won't be back too soon!)
