Hey everyone,

I have a strange problem with a Toshiba Satellite and wanted to see if anyone had experienced this same problem before or has some insight to what the issue is. Its a Toshiba Satellite A35-S159, running XP Pro SP3. I bought this off a guy, knowing that the hard drive was bad. I replaced the hard drive and loaded XP on there. I searched the Internet and loaded the drivers (which by the way are not even on Toshiba's site... what's up with that). Anyways, the laptop all of sudden shutoff on me. When it does this I cannot power it back on. I have to first unplug the ac adatper and then plug it back in, then it powers back on. However, it only goes to about the Windows Startup screen and then shutsdown. I thought it was an over heating problem, so I blew out the heatsink and fans really good, cleaned up the heatsink and CPU, and reapplied some heatsink compound. Still it gets to the windows logo screen and then shuts off. I finally discovered that if the battery is not in connected, it runs fine. I've been runnig it off of AC power for now, but would like to use the battery. Any suggestions? Do you think its a faulty battery? I don't want to waste another $75 for a replacement if that's not the issue. I would love to hear anyone's opionion on this issue, or if they experienced a similar problem and what the resolution was.

Thanks in advance,
Rob

Sounds like to me that there is a problem with the hard drive either the drive it self which is doubtful seeing as you have replaced that but maybe the way you have connected the hard drive into the laptop ??
I would do a simple task take the drive out and then replace it it back in but making sure it was connected correctly let me no mate.
