Persuade yourself that it was time to replace it with a shiny new one. Decide which of this years models you like and go out and buy it. Sell the damaged one on eBay with exactly the same words as you've written here, it ought to fetch UKP70 plus delivery.

There's nowhere you can take it which will fix it reliably, there's nowhere you can take it which will charge you under UKP100 and it's near the end of its useful life anyway, dropped or not.

Sounds like you killed it, 99% of the time laptops are not economical to repair. Claim on house insurance or warranty.
