Ok Im thinking about purchasing a Gateway ML3109 Laptop.
Here are the specs:

What i want to know is if after I buy it, will I be able to upgrade the processor from a celeron M to a Core Duo or Dual core or something?

Hi Elijah.

Short answer: No, you won't be able to upgrade the cpu. The cooling in place will only handle a Celeron. The chassis will take a new chip, but the heapipes/copper block won't be able to handle any extra heat.

I wouldn't recommend upgrading the cpu in a laptop for the faint hearted anyway. It's not nearly so simple as swapping one out in a desktop.

If you don't mind me asking, how much is this lappy? because a bog standard 512mb of ram (with 64mb of that taken for the graphics) doesn't leave you with much for the o.s and running applications. Especially if it's Vista.

It's $379+$39 shipping so it's going to be almost $420 total.

Anything else anyone would recommend?
