Hey Folks

My little bros just got my mums old laptop, its a Fujitsu Siemens C1020 I think. Its got 20GB HD, and crap RAM. So he's looking to upgrade to 512MB at least if possible.

I bought one of eBay but the seller sent the wrong one, and now haven't heard from him since.

Anybody know where to get one??

Also, the battery, lasts for 11 seconds exactly from charging all night when its unplugged. Which is pretty rubbish really. He can't do anything with it. He can't afford to get a new laptop, (he's 11).

TIA

Ben

Laptop battery's need to have their cells cycled.

What this means is that you need to charge them up, then use them until they're empty, then rinse and repeat.

Leaving the laptop plugged in 24/7 stops the cells cycling and kills them, thus leaving you with a duff battery.

The fix is to get a new battery but this time charge it up, then drain it right down before charging again.

Ahh. I'll get a new battery for him. Know where to get one??

Also, regarding the RAM, I don't know what I'm looking for, the one I bought before was bought because the seller said it would work, obviously not. Advice appreciated.

Could try eBay for a battery, beware of copies, they may be cheap but will have a shorter life.
