EDGE (Enhanced Data GSM Environment) is just an air interface which is developed specifically to meet the needs of the 3rd Generation mobile communication technology (3G)

Therefore to get the fastest possible connection you just need to look for a phone that supports 3G.

You mentioned the iPhone, the old model has internet but only WAP and GPRS, after a lot of complaints of it being too slow the newer model comes with 3G (which is faster) and is aptly named iPhone3G.

Most new phones now are coming with 3G, and if you go to a site like the carphone warehouse you can filter your results of phones by having 3G or not (a long with other specifacation such as FM radio, MP3, etc.)

Hope that helps, Ollie.

well initially you would have to change to O2, however it is possible to have the phones unlocked to be able to use them on any network. if you are wanting to stay with T-Mobile, it's probably best to look on ebay or similar sites for a pre-unlocked phone.
