hi. I'm new
=]

well, I'm hoping you can help me out.
I have a month old dell inspiron 1520
and i was running it off the mains with the battery removed
but i accidently pulled out the power cable and the computer turned off
now i cannot get it to turn on.
I've tried with just the power cable in, just the battery in, and both the battery and power cable in but none work.

when i press the power button, the power led and hard drive led light up for about 2 seconds then they go off and the battery led lights up for about 1 second

the laptop makes no noise and the screen does not change.

does anybody know what is wrong and how i can fix this?

Thank you.

The power lead will also charge up the battery, yherefore it would be possible to muck up the contacts or overheat surrounding components, however it is unlikely that Dell would not have put some kind of protection there against that.

And even so it should still run off mains power.

But as yours is just 1 month old it is still eligible for Dell's Support center.

Hope that helps, Ollie.
