Everytime I boot up, the touchpad works fine but only for a few minutes. A box comes up saying: "Your TouchPad has been disabled because the Synaptics TouchPad driver has detected another pointing device plugged into your computer." My laptop thinks that it has a mouse plugged into the PS/2 port (it doesn't), and so although all the functionality of the touchpad is still represented on the control panel all the good stuff (scrolling, corner tapping etc) has stopped. THIS HAS BEEN DRIVING ME INSANE!

Right Click on My Computer

Select Properties

Select Hardware

Click Device Manager

Then click on View - Show Hidden Devices

See if there are any yellow alerts on any of the items by expanding each tree in turn.

Especially check Mice and other pointing devices

If there are any alerts reply with what device they are next to.

Also say if there is more than one pointing device listed.
