Freezing is normally down to hardware.

Remove the covers on the bottom and make sure the fans are all clean of dust and debris.

Could be a virus or something if it's only at certain times like this, or I could be completely wrong. But yeah check out the fans and do a virus and spyware scan. Or it could be something to do with the ram... maybe you should have it checked out if none of the simple things work.

Have you tried doing System Maintenance

If that doesn't help, try some Virus Scans

You will need to isolate the fault whether it is hardware or software fault,. Get a spare hard drive and fresh install Windows, if it doesnt locks up then you know you have software fault on original hard drive which means you need to run the spyware and maintenance check ie. system mechanic to total clean up your hdd.

If it locks up on fresh install hard drive then you have hardware fault, most common problem is dry thermal paste on processor which you need to remove old paste then re-apply thermal paste and check fan spinning.

Hope that helps

<EDIT> This is considered spamming.
