I've recently got my old laptop I've plugged into the mains as the battery no longer works. The CD drive works and it appears to be reading the recovery disk, however the screen is black and I cannot see what the laptop is doing. It's been reset to the factory settings, but why would the screen stop working?
What may be the cause of this? Any help would be much appreciated Many thsnks

Are you able to use an external monitor temporarily?

No unfortunately I don't have access to another monitor I've got a laptop I'm using at moment.
