Default Which RAM to get?

Hi guys,

Adding some more memory to my laptop but not entirely sure what to get. I want to add another 512MB but I'm not sure what speed. In the instructions it says "266 minimum" but doesn't give a maximum value? I currently have one PC2100 and one PC2700 in there. It says that the type is 2.5V DDR SDRAM.

So could I get some stuff above PC2700?

Thanks

Tom

P.S. It's a dell Inspiron 510m.

RAM will always default to the slowest speed, so even if your laptop supports PC3200 it will default to PC2100 as you have a stick of that too.

Ok, in that case I will probably just get another PC2700 and replace the PC2100 with it?

Is there such thing as a maximum PCxxxx this laptop can handle? If there is I can't find it anywhere! If there is not I would be tempted to buy a 1GB pc3200 or faster otherwise.

According to Corsair the ram speed it should have is DDR-333 (PC-2700) using their memory configurator So that speed is probably a safe bet to go for, even though you don't have to go with corsair stuff if you prefer someone else.
