Default Recommendations for Laptops Please

Looking for a laptop at the lower end of the price scale, mainly to be used for internet browsing. Looking for something in the £300-£450 range and must be wi-fi enabled.

Couple of other questions for u guys in the know........

1. Are refurbished laptops from likes of PC World worth buying, anyone had any problems with such goods?

2. Anyone any problems with Windows Vista, I have heard things run real slowly with this. Would I be btter looking for somthin with Wndows XP?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

PS.....Ive been looking at Currys, PC World and Dell online, are there any other good sites to check out?

Have a look at www.ebuyer.com for new and www.europc.co.uk for refubs.

Both should be much cheaper than PC World, you really don't want to buy PC stuff from them, buy it online.

Oh and Vista is fine, just make sure it's the basic version if you have low RAM (1gb and below)

Premium versions upwards need 2gb really.

I'd go for 1GB min really.

It will serve you better in the long run.

Spend £40 more and get this.

http://www.ebuyer.com/product/134522

Not only does it have 2GB RAM but it is a fast TRUE dual core.

All the ones you listed are the older fake dual cores.
