Hey,

I want to reformat my computer the quickest way possible. I'm currently running Windows XP on my laptop. Is there a way which I can simply download something of the Internet, put it onto a CD and it will completely re format my whole computer? I lost the disc which was supposed to come with my Laptop that would do this for me and have tried to get in contact with the company but I have had little success with this.

Thanks in advance.

You can't download anything as that would be piracy. What make is your laptop?

You need to ring Toshiba and make them send you a recovery disk. They may charge your for it but they are meant to give you a new one if you lose it.

Get on the phone to them and give them hell till they agree to send you one! They can be a real pain.

Well lufc6, if you want just to format your computer (without downloading a windows xp disk, as that would be piracy), there's a way you could accomplish it.
Find a Linux live CD -- that's the second time a suggest doing it on this forum =P -- and boot with it. Most of those, like Ubuntu, have Gparted or some software for partition management you could use to format your partition. Read some tutorials on that matter to get more information.
If that's what you want, to simply format, that's how I would do it.

I agree, you definitely don't want to do that until you have a new OS ready to install on to it. And anyway, you could just use the OS that you are going to install to format the partition for you. No need for Linux anyway
