Hey everyone,
I've been using a Dell Inspiron 1501 for about 2 1/2 years now but I've been having problems with it for least the last year. Symptoms: - Firefoc/IE often crashes (this happens more frequently when doing things such as watching videos, or using facebook) - Other programs also frequently crash, such as Skype. - Takes a long time for the laptop to recognise that something has been plugged into a USB slot. (We're talking hours or never here. Occasionally shorter) - As I type there is a delay between me pressing keys and the letters appearing on the screen. - General slowness. *There are probably a few other things I've forgotten to mention but if I think of them, I will add. I've run virus checks frequently, and whenever something is found it is got rid of/put in the chest/whatever. I also chose to reformat (using the Dell recovery partition, the 'System Restore' or whatever it called it.) but although this did speed up the laptop, I was still having the same problems with the crashing and the USB drives. Is there anything else I could try to try and resolve this? Or do you think that it's more of a general, 'coming to the end of it's life' thing. Any help would be greatly appreciated!! (Oh, and if this thread is thought to be in the wrong place, please feel free to move it :) ) |

Ok have you made sure you have enough FREE Ram avlb for your computer to run smoothly without slow down ? to what you have mentioned I think you need to just have a clean about on your pc with ccleaner whitch is a freeware program and will help you out alot, give it ago I bet you will not be dissapointed. Plus make sure you have all the correct drivers installed on your computer so there is no glitches or things making your generel explorer expriance slower.
Also try these:... Defragmenting ( RegulaR) Ccleaner using once a day Msconfig in run box to stop unnesscory start up progs. |

btw do not format with the dell disk use a proper os disk to format sorry about double posting just read your post again, using the dell disk will keep over writing material that is stil kept on our hard drive using a windows disk for example would give it a clean system to work with and then instal all appropriate drivers for your ststem.
