I have an HP dv9715nr laptop that needs a motherboard. I can buy one
from HP but they`re very expensive. The only info I can get from them is
a model #. IF I want to buy one from Tiger Direct or some other place,
how do I know which one will work? Thanks in advance.

You can only get them direct from HP or maybe secondhand from eBay. The mobos you see on tiger are for desktops only.

Either way replacing a laptop mobo is a major job, i consider myself highly experienced with PCs and my company would turn away the work.

Buy a new laptop, you'll get a new warranty too, something you wont get with a new mobo. What happens when something else goes a few months down the line...?
