the ATI chip is buggy or something because I get this message: "the ATI Control Panel failed to initialize because no ATI driver is installed or ATI driver is not working properly"

I have the drivers installed but even the display manager doesn't see any ATI drivers or even the video chip.

Any ideas?

Did you try reinstalling the drivers?

Yes, I did re-install all drivers from Sony's eSupport site and I still have this issue.

I even installed the ATI M 9600/9700 and those worked only in a 800 x 600 and a color quality of 4 bits.

All my adapter info is saying it's a 9600/9700 which seem correct to me. It's reading 64MB of memory which is correct.

The resources tab does have any conflicts like it did before. ie: Memory range, I/O Range, etc.
