I am a college student. I use my laptop frequently. I am not always able to be near a power source plug-in. Is there any suggestions, tips, or gadgets that would help me out? I do not have enough money to buy an extra battery right now. Here are the specs of my laptop. It is also has 6 cell battery.

Turning the brightness down fully and turning off the screen/putting the machine to sleep when inactive are pretty much your options.

I think that's sort of the risk you take when you decide you need a Blu-Ray burner and a Penryn C2D for schoolwork

Carbons spot on there, I guess you could buy another battery for your laptop charge it and use it when your original runs out, should get you 4-6 hours using power saving options and stuff to reduce power consumption.

Try turning your brightness off, put your laptop on Power Save, instead of Performance (Trust me, it saves a lot)

That's pretty much it...

if your laptop takes forever to load, then use hibernation that way less power is wasted on just starting the laptop

Try using Hibernation instead of sleep, put power savings on, and most importantly put the brightness down, you will be amazed how much that saves!
