Today a guy brought me the above which was doing nothing.
I got it boot and installed XP but the screen is wickedly bright and I can't find how to turn it down.
Any ideas?
Tosh are crap for support and I'm snookered
The guy never booted it for 18 months and I reckon it needs a new cmos batt and the main batt needs to come out.

Most laptops have a + and - key for brightness on the keyboard.

Press and hold the Fn key and either the + or - to adjust.

I've already been there mate if this is the reference your talking of;

Quote:
The normal keys for thie are Fn+F7 to increase the brightness and Fn+F6 to reduce it. However different notebook models may use different key combinations so I would check your user handbook to see which ones are correct for your notebook
It did nothing.
The screen is perfect in appearance, not damaged in any way etc.

That link also says there may be a dial for adjusting the setting.

The PDF is too large to upload mate but it doesn't tell you anything.

This is why I have not been here all afternoon because of this, it's driving me nuts.
