Default is vista fo me?

before you think 'oh noes its in the wrong section' hold on for a sec ;)...

its fo my new laptop when she arrives. i brought her mainly to do college work etc on but i wanted it to be able to play some games too
rough spec:
Core 2 DuoT7250 (2x 2,0ghz) 800mhz FSB/2mb L2 cache
2 gig corsair 667mhz ram
80gb S-ATA II 8mb cache 5400rpm
512mb Geforce 8600GT +D-SUB + TV-OUT
and a few tricks along side that

just wondering how much it will decreace my gaming performance if i run vista on a laptop of this spec?

my origional plan was just to run XP PRO but iv been using vista o my mates lappy for a week and im starting to fall in love with it..

it seems to run alot faster than XP too which is a bonus

so any thoughts?

Gaming performance will be reduced when using Vista no matter what your specs are.
By how much is difficult to say but I ll just say 5-10FPS just for the hell of it.

the 8600gt card is a gooden i have it in my desktop, works well with vista

2gb ram, depending on your last computer you yourself will see a difference

either way its going to be good for games but not future proof, will struggle on high settings for crysis etc

Stick with XP Pro .... with SP3.

Have a read here and here or do a dual boot system with XP Pro & Vista Ultimate, you can then judge for yourself
